Europe's largest port has warned that the final phase of Britain's post-Brexit border controls, due in January, will add up to a day to lorry crossings unless the IT systems on both sides are fixed first.

Hauliers' groups said testing of the new declarations platform had been limited and that drivers had not been trained on it.

The British government said the timetable would hold and that the systems had been “extensively tested”.
